We’re often asked if fresh and faux flowers can be styled together, and the answer is absolutely. Thoughtfully blending both can add richness, depth, and a natural sense of movement to an arrangement that feels effortlessly authentic. This is also a good way to continue to enjoy stems which have outlasted the rest of a fresh bouquet.
Start by selecting stems that complement one another in tone and texture. At The Linen Vase, we believe that a balance of foliage with softly coloured faux blooms always works beautifully for elegant, natural arrangements. If you’re using a clear vase, trim every stem cleanly and evenly (using wire cutters for your faux stems); bent or uneven stems can appear untidy through glass and draws the eye away from the arrangement.
Before arranging in a vase, seal the cut ends of your faux stems with a small drop of superglue to prevent rusting or discolouration once they come into contact with water. Always use a waterproof vase and position your fresh stems so they can draw water freely without coming into direct contact with the glued, sealed stem ends.
The result is a quietly convincing mix that feels alive and effortless - part lasting beauty, part living bloom - a simple way to extend the life and elegance of your display.
